To achieve this, the Company identifies, evaluates, and manages potential environmental risks, and promotes training of staff raise awareness.

The evaluation starts with an impact matrix, developed using data from studies carried out as part of the environmental licensing process. These studies are based on the guidelines laid out by the Petroleum and Gas General Coordination of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (CGPEG/IBAMA). The goal of the matrix is to identify and evaluate the impacts associated with the planning, installation, operation, and deactivation of QGEP’s activities, considering the actual and potential impacts (due to incidents, accidents, and abnormal situations), and providing critical environmental analysis for the Company.

QGEP makes use of widely accepted risk management methodologies such as Preliminary Risk Analysis (PRA), Hazard Identification (Hazid), Hazard Operability Study (Hazop), and Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), which allow for the effective monitoring and risk management in its activities. Additionally, periodic audits are performed at the company’s service providers, in order to ensure strict adherence to QGEP’s Safety, Environmental, and Health guidelines.

As an operating Company, QGEP establishes a close relationship with communities in its activities’ areas of influence by developing direct communication channels while always respecting local cultures and their values. In this way, QGEP contributes to the sustainable development of the region and to improving quality of life for local communities.

The legal obligation to develop environmental impact studies, and to implement mitigating or compensating measures for potential impacts on local biodiversity is carried out diligently, with an emphasis on developing projects with tangible benefits for local communities.

In order to achieve excellence in Safety, Environment, and Health, QGEP has established an Integrated Management System (IMS) based on national, international, and industry best practices.
