QGEP announces management change

Lincoln Rumenos Guardado, director of Exploration at Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção (QGEP), will become the company’s new CEO, effective June 1. Mr. Guardado joined Grupo Queiroz Galvão in 2009 and has worked in the E&P industry for 35 years, including in key positions at Petrobras, where he began his career in 1974 as a geologist.

From 1995 to 2000, he worked as general manager of Brazilian exploration activities, overseeing all Brazilian basin projects. Mr. Guardado also has extensive international experience. He worked at Petrobras’ international headquarters as general manager of Exploration, managing exploratory operations in many areas, including the Gulf of Mexico, Nigeria, Argentina, Colombia, Turkey and India, experience that gave him a broad understanding of the entire industry.

After 45 years of significant discoveries in the segment, José Augusto Fernandes Filho has decided to step down from the company’s executive board but will remain involved with QGEP Participações as a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Fernandes Filho, who came to the company in 1996, has overseen the group’s E&P operations since they began.
