BM-S-8 consortium receives good news

A 171 meter continuous column of good-quality petroleum has been located in one of Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção’s assets in the Carcará prospect in the BM-S-8 block. The data were obtained from the 4-SPS-86B (4-BRSA-971-SPS) well in ultra-deep water in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.

Nine oil samples with an API gravity of around 32º were collected from reservoirs at a depth of up to 5,910 meters which also proved the continuity of the discovery announced to the market on March 20.

The well is located 232 km off the São Paulo coast at a water depth of 2,027 meters. It is still being drilled within the petroleum zone, having reached a depth of 5,926 meters, and is attempting to determine the lower limit of the reservoirs and the total thickness of the zones of interest.

With a 10% share of the consortium, QGEP’s partners in the exploratory phase are Petrobras (66%), which is the operator, Petrogal Brasil (14%) and Barra Energia do Brasil Petróleo e Gás (10%).
