QGEP sponsors Portinari exhibition in Rio de Janeiro

After the Rio+20 Conference, Rio de Janeiro residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the marvelous work of Portinari at UFRJ‘s Casa da Ciência. From September 20 through December 16, the Portinari - Art and the Environment exhibition, a project supported by Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção, will be open to the public.

During this period, in addition to the 28 digital replicas of the artist‘s paintings, visitors will be able to participate in art workshops that foster creativity, making people reflect on the importance of understanding and caring for the environment.

The replicas displayed reveal images of Brazil‘s flora, fauna, culture and people and intend to foment and raise awareness of the importance of transforming the world where we live into a better and well-cared for place. As the artist himself states, his work should "inspire in every man and woman a feeling of human dignity, fraternity and community spirit."

According to QGEP‘s CEO, Lincoln R. Guardado, the Rio exhibition gives the company the opportunity to encourage social and environmental respect through education and the work of Portinari - one of Brazil‘s greatest painters. "Portinari-Art and Environment is a unique project, fruit of the partnership between Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção and the Portinari Project. Through this project, many people - both those who already know the artist‘s work and those to whom it will be their first contact with Portinari - will be able to learn more about environmental conservation, valuing the country‘s culture."
