‘War and Peace’, a project sponsored by QGEP, takes part in Folha de SP vote

Portinari’s ‘War and Peace’, held at the Memorial da América Latina in São Paulo was voted the second best exhibition of 2012 by Folha de São Paulo newspaper’s Guia Folha supplement. The project received 3,185 votes (conducted via the internet) or 36% of the total, and was only beaten by the ‘Impressionism - Paris and Modernity’ exhibition, which is currently being shown at the Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro and which received 38%.

The ‘War and Peace’ panels were painted for the United Nations Headquarters building in New York, which underwent a major remodeling in 2010, when the paintings were sent to Brazil for the first time. The first exhibition took place in Rio de Janeiro in December of the same year and received 44,000 visitors. In São Paulo, more than 100,000 people have seen the exhibition.

Since 2010, Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção has been sponsoring the Portinari Project through the federal incentive law, also known as the Rouanet Law.
