ANP approves the National Safety Management System

Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has approved the Operational Safety documentation concerning the activities in the BM-J-2 block.

The Operational Safety Management System (SGSO) was instituted by ANP Resolution 43/2007. ANP adopted these measures to reinforce the operational safety of offshore platforms. The resolution sets forth strict safety criteria for Exploration and Production (E&P) activities, including provisions for inspection, as well as the prevention and control of noncompliance.

Brazil’s Offshore Operational Safety regulations are one of the most advanced in the world, having been praised by the Wall Street Journal, together with Norway’s regulations. Therefore, they seek to ensure safe and responsible operations.
